Dream of an illegal immigrant

Committing crimes is not ethical. But, sometimes we become bound to do it. It’s a story of an illegal immigrant who is now imprisoned somewhere in Asia.

I had a dream to see the world. No, I’m not talking about seeing it on YouTube, rather I’m talking about visiting places. I’ve visited most of the corners in my country. But, it failed to cease my thirst.

It cost me less than $50 to complete visiting my whole country. Yea, my country is not so big. It’s only 2000 kilometers distance from the northeast corner to the southwest corner. Sometimes I traveled on foot, sometimes by train without having any ticket.

It was very adventurous to travel without having any ticket. I know, it’s a crime. But, what to do if there’s not enough money in the wallet? You may suggest me to stay at home, but I couldn’t imprisoned myself.

Yea, there’s no difference between the prisoners who are imprisoned at home and who are imprisoned in jail. None of them can experience the surprising beauty of the world.

Anyway, sometimes I would have been caught red handed by the railway security. They threatened me to send in jail. But, thanks God! They were very kind hearted.

And you’ll be surprised to know that I never had to pay any hotel bill. Most of the time, I traveled at night. So, I could sleep well while traveling. And I used to land in a new city before the sun rises. Then, I used to look for cheap hotels. I went to hotel managers, offered them a cheap cigarette and used my magic to make a friendship with them.

Most of the time I would become successful. And if I would not, then I had to pass my night lying in the religious sanctuary or public hospital. Public hospital is safer than any other options for a nomad like me.

This is how I’ve visited most of the parts of my country. Then comes to cross the border. A passport was needed, a lot of money was needed and I was very idle to do any job. My dad always scolds me for my laziness and never give me any money.

But, my thirst for visiting places was deep enough to defeat my laziness. So, I have started writing. I’ve written so many things from birthday card to academic research paper and my most favorite topic was traveling, but I could not find any clients to pay me for my favorite topic. I had been paid $5 or $10 for each project.

Sometimes, I had to write 1 week only for $10. But, I was dedicated to make my dream come true. Fortunately one day a government officer invited me to his office. At first I thought he was my father’s friend. Either he will ask me to join a job or scold me for not doing any job.

Thinking seven and six, I went to his office and surprisingly he was not any of my father’s friends. In some way he came to know about my writing and offered me a big project. It took me around 4 months to complete the project and he paid me $1k.

It was more than enough for me to get my passport and an air ticket. Within a month, I got my passport and then applied for my Visa to a neighboring country. I became so happy and my happiness had crossed all limits when my foot crossed the border line of my country. I felt like I was entering heaven.

But in less than a week, all my money had been finished. So, I had to come back before my thirst becomes ceased. I started writing again. This time I’m more motivated, more focused and more armed to make a trip to another country.

Fortunately this officer called me again and I was given a bigger writing project. This time I had to write around 100k words for another $1k. I had heard a lot of things about Malaysia. So, this time I applied for a Malaysian Visa. But, my Visa application was rejected.

I was looking for another country, but one day I got a phone call from an unknown number. This unknown person offered me to manage a Malaysian Visa. But, he can manage only student Visa.

No matter it’s tourist Visa or student Visa, I just want to visit new countries. So, I give him all the documents he asked for and he managed a student visa for me.

Without facing any problem I’ve come to Malaysia. But, the sky turned red within no time. I had been given two options, either pay the University fees or buy a return ticket.

As I was passionate to visit a new country and I just landed here, so I took the first option. I gave the money to a person to do the necessary things. But as soon as he got the money, he became disappeared.

This is how I’ve become an Illegal immigrant of Malaysia. Literally I’m yet to be imprisoned here, but figuratively I am. I can’t go out, I can’t walk here. The immigration police officers are very brutal here. So many Illegal immigrants have been killed by them.

Yea, it’s true that the immigration police officers do not kill them directly. But, what’s the difference between killing a man by shooting or hanging and killing a man by leaving him in a dark forest which is full of dangerous beasts….???

As an adventure lover, it’s okay for me to celebrate these challenges. But, the problem is that I have a police phobia. So, I never dare to face them. Writing helps me to make my living here. But, it’s not enough to buy a return ticket. Moreover, I have to visit other countries to cease my thirst and thirsty heart can’t live long.

Every night in my dreams, I see that I have booked a ticket to the blue. But, I couldn’t find the ticket after waking up. I don’t know when I’ll fly again, I even don’t know how to flee away. It would be possible to flee away if I knew their language. But, alas… there’s nobody to teach me!
