Next to the cosmetic box, cooking oils are the most confusing things to the home moms. Cooking delicious food is a daily challenge to them and cooking oils are the secret weapon to bring the desired taste to the foods they cook.

So, moms rush to the grocery stores and lose their sense as every store is full with so many cooking oils to choose from. Standing right on this point, I’ve seen 2 options. The first one is to make the food tasty and the 2nd one is to cook healthy food.

Your college going daughter may hit the gym daily, your husband may go to the local park to have a walk every morning with a view to maintaining a good shape, but what about you?

Your cooking oil plays a vital role to burn the extra fat and help you maintain a great shape. At the same time, wrong selection of cooking oil can destroy the taste of your hour long kitchen works.

So, if the taste of your food is of the priority to you, there are thousands of chef recommended cooking oils. It’ll be even better to follow your favorite chefs. But, if you like to take a challenge to cook healthy as well as tasty food, then you’ll need to know something about your cooking oil.

If you’re on a mission to regain your teenage body shape, oil free cooking is the best option for you. But, you’re not the only member in your family and other members may not like the oil free recipes. You can cook these oil free recipes (available in the following article) for them which are tasty and healthy.

Anyway, there’s no alternative option if they don’t like these recipes and the chance is only one percent that they’ll like baked or steamed food for seven days. So, all you have to do is to find out a cooking oil which contains fat to the lowest.

How to choose the right cooking oil

Chefs will suggest you to consider three things to choose your cooking oil. These are — Temperature, Flavor & Price. Some of them may ask you to go for the vegetable oil. Well, did you ever seen that eggplant, tomato or lady’s finger is producing oil? Okay fine, can you tell me which vegetable is used to extract cooking oil from?

Yap, there are some cooking oils which are extracted from seeds. These seeds oil are good to bring taste. But all of them are not equal to ensure healthy cooking. They’ll also educate you about some scientific terms of oil like smoke point, omega, unsaturated and monounsaturated fats blah blah blah.

Getting confused? Don’t worry! It’s not that so difficult to identify a low fat cooking oil. You can follow 2 ways to find out your desired oil. Number one is to study this chart -

And the other way is to follow a simple rule which is — Avoid the word “light” or “refined” and go for “extra virgin”. I’ve followed this way and got that extra virgin olive oil is a reliable cooking oil for the fitness enthusiasts. It’s not the best, but at least it’s better than the rest.

It’ll keep you away from deep frying, which is harmful to your health, it’ll keep you away from high temp cooking which is also bad for our body but it’ll make your cooking tasty which is a must to serve your food to the other family members.

The story isn’t ended here. As a mom, you’ve an ocean depth of love for your family. So, there’s no problem if you cook their favorite recipes using your favorite cooking oil once a week. In that case, you have to have more than one type of cooking oil in your kitchen.

It’s not any magic to pour some oil into a pan and fry some food. Fried food is always injurious to our health. The mastery lies in cooking tasty as well as nutritious meal using less oil. Enough for today. In my next post, I’ll share some delicious recipes that can be cooked using extra virgin olive oil.
